THE SEAPORT STARFISH PAPERWEIGHT

On the facade of 142 Beekman St., corner of Front Street, in the South Street Seaport Museum Neighborhood, there is a very special starfish. Built in 1885 for a fish dealer it remains today as a memento from another time. This starfish combined with tie rods helps to hold the brick walls of that building in place. The South Street Seaport neighborhood possesses a unique and festive New York atmosphere. Restored and revitalized with old sea vessels and refaced buildings and shops the Seaport neighborhood is located near the Brooklyn Bridge and is a delight for all who work or visit there.-
